Quail Run Trail at Enid Lake in George P. Cossar State Park

Image
The Quail Run Trail is a 2.2-mile partial loop trail in George P. Cossar State Park along the southern side of Enid Lake, Mississippi.

The trailhead is located near the boat ramp in the park and is marked by an old sign. The entirety of the trail passes through forest, but a large portion of the trail closely follows the park road.

The trail is formed by an out-and-back portion that is a half mile long (hiked twice for 1 mile total), along with a 1.2-mile loop section that follows a ridge, descends into a small valley, crosses a stream, goes back up hill to the park entrance, and returns back towards the trailhead.

Water Valley Landing Trail at Enid Lake

Image
The Water Valley Landing Trail is a 0.5-mile loop nature trail through the forest at the Water Valley Landing Recreation Area on the southern side of Enid Lake, Mississippi.

This is an easy trail that traverses mostly through forest, but has a short spur that goes out to a viewpoint over the lake. There is also a small pond along the trail and part of the trail follows a power line cut. The trailhead is marked by a few parking spaces prior to reaching the campground, along with two signs that indicate the trail's entrance, but no signs specifically stating "trail."

The trail forms a figure eight pattern and traverses mostly through forest, but also through some open area near the campground. It is fairly well maintained and is an easy walk.

Beech Hollow Nature Trail at Enid Lake

Image
The Beech Hollow Nature Trail is a short 0.5-mile loop trail through a valley at the Wallace Creek Recreation Area to the north of the dam at Enid Lake, Mississippi.

The trail is an easy loop and starts by descending into the valley, following the stream a bit, and then turning up the hill, looping around, and continuing back to the trailhead. The entirety of the trail is through forest and seems to be decently well maintained.
