Brice's Cross Roads Battlefield

The Battle of Brice's Cross Roads was a one day long battle of the Civil War in June 1864 near Baldwyn, Mississippi. The battle results in a Confederate victory by General Forrest over a Union army expedition from Memphis under the command of General Sturgis.

The National Park Service unit occupies a small parcel of land at an intersection

Today a small portion of the battlefield area is preserved as Brice's Cross Roads National Battlefield Site, a unit of the National Park Service. Much of the surrounding land that was part of the battle is remains as protected private land that is open to visitors.

There are several stops on a driving tour in the area with interpretive signs. For a complete guide it is recommended to first stop at the interpretive center in Baldwyn. Some of the stops have short paved walking paths, while a run-down unpaved path connects two others.
